Fiona completed a Degree in Podiatry at La Trobe University, Bundoora in 2000. Her first work experience as a Podiatrist was in the rural community of Ouyen, northern Victoria. This was an extremely interesting and rewarding twelve months, working as a sole practitioner in a remote setting. On return to Melbourne Fiona established her own private practice in Mordialloc while also taking on Beaumaris Podiatry, an established practice within the Beaumaris Medical Centre. During this period Fiona also coordinated a high risk foot clinic for the Peninsula Health Care Network, specifically for patients with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease. Fiona also ran education sessions for rehabilitation staff and patients in relation to general foot care and the impact it can have on minimizing falls in the elderly. Fiona is interested in every aspect of foot care. She is often asked “Why would you choose Podiatry as a profession?” and responds with “It is great to relieve people of pain in their feet, especially if they have been putting up with it for a long time. Whether it is a painful corn, ingrown toenail or a sports related injury, successful treatment can make a real difference to a person’s life”. Fiona’s personal interests include equestrian pursuits, running, skiing, golf and following Melbourne in the AFL. Fiona and her husband Travis live in Black Rock with their children Jack, Frederick and Charlotte and their dog, a kelpie cross named Lucy.
