Podiatric Treatments At Port Phillip Podiatry
Jenny and the Port Phillip Podiatry team can help you with the below podiatric issues from our Mordialloc clinic, or she can visit you, at home, in most South East Melbourne suburbs. To book in a 30 minute appointment, please use our online booking service.
General Foot Care
Our general foot care includes all our routine treatments. This includes nail treatments for thick, fungal or ingrown nails, corn and callous debridement, debridement of heel fissures (cracks) and the assessment and diagnoses of skin conditions.
Diabetic Foot Care
Diabetes can have a serious impact on the well-being of your feet. Jenny can diagnose and treat a range of issues relating to diabetes.
To correctly diagnose your symptoms, diabetes assessments can be undertaken, including:
Doppler arterial assessments
Biomechanical and foot structure assessments to assess risk status
Detailed reports can be sent to your GP.
Children’s Foot Care
Jenny can assess, treat and educate you on a large range of children’s foot concerns including (but not limited to):
Pain when walking/running
In toeing and out toeing (feet pointing inwards or outwards)
Abnormally shaped feet or toes
Stiffness in foot
Sudden change in walking style
If you are concerned about any of these issues, or another foot problem not mentioned here, please bring your child in to the clinic.
Orthotics can solve a range of foot pain and gait issues. A thorough biomechanical, dynamic gait, footwear and joint range-of-motion assessments can be undertaken to identify your podiatric issue and recommend a potential solution during your appointment, and if required, custom castings can be made for orthotics.
Ingrown toenails can be incredibly painful, but early and regular treatment can prevent the issue reoccurring and may prevent the need for antibiotics. By having your toenails professionally cut and cared for at regular intervals, you may be able to prevent this problem.
For those who prefer not to attend a podiatrist regularly, and are suffering from constant pain and regular infection due to ingrown toe nails, we can offer a minor surgical procedure known as a partial nail avulsion. Please ask for further detail of this procedure during your consultation.
Heel pain can cause you a great deal of distress and it’s one of the most common causes of foot pain. Because your foot often doesn’t ‘look’ like it is injured, heel pain can cause confusion and distress. Diagnosing this condition early and implementing recommended treatments can help you recover in a timely manner and get you back on your feet
Plantar fasciitis and heel spurs are common causes of heel pain in adults. Treatment may involve footwear education, stretching regimes, anti-inflammatories, strapping, exercise modification or orthotics. Jenny will recommend the most appropriate form of treatment depending on the underlying cause of the pain.
Children can also suffer from heel pain, this often occurs between the ages of 8 and 13, as your child becomes increasingly active in sporting activities. Heel pain in active children is often a growth related condition known as Sever’s Disease. Jenny will be able to diagnose, treat and educate you and your child if this is the issue.
